This time of year always makes me nostalgic and reminiscent of younger years, where Christmas was all about being out of school for two weeks, getting to spend more time with familiy from out of town, matching pajamas with my siblings and trying to be on my best behavior while impatiently waiting for Santa’s arrival on Christmas Eve night! These days the things I value are a a little different, but the family time and holiday magic is still there, though it may be a little harder to find under the shopping stress and holiday traffic! My favorite gift would have to be the year when I was 8, as my parents surprised my brother, sister and I with a trip to Disneyworld in Orlando, Florida! A few days before Christmas, the day we got out of school for Christmas break, my parents came to school to pick us up and already had our bags packed. They didn’t tell us where we were going, but instead planned a scavenger hunt with clues! The clues included getting a Disney movie to unwrap, Mickey Mouse shaped cookies, and finally, we opened an envelope with the Disneyworld brochure right as we crossed the state line into Florida! I remember the day like it was yesterday, and we had the best time and made great memories. I remember even at 8 years old, planning to keep the tradition and do that with my kids one day! What are some of your favorite Christmas gifts? Do you have any family traditions that you plan on extending to your own family one day? We would love to hear them!
